I don’t know if you’ve ever thought about it, but before you came to school, you didn’t hate or love learning. In fact, learning was as natural as eating and sleeping. You soaked up experiences and sensory stimuli, and you categorized it. You figured out how to say “mama” and “dada” and “no” just by watching and being with other people who knew how to do these things. Nobody sat you down in a chair, gave you a lecture on how to say your first word, and then you took an exam to see if you passed. You learned because you were alive.
Somewhere along the line, most of us forget that learning is just that simple. We learn as a natural byproduct of breathing. Inhale. Exhale. Learn. That’s why I like this idea of wikis and blogs and interactive communication as we learn together. We can explore and learn from each other in an organic, authentic way. Maybe along the way we can recapture our drive and desire to learn, and come alive again.
