Now, I’ve confused my metaphors.
If we’re supposed to be marketing our product to students, then they’re consumers, right? But, we want to turn them into producers and thinkers and creators.
Is that even possible? No wonder kids are confused. They are told to “buy” what’s being given to them, and then they are told to make top-quality products. Is what we’re selling students the best possible materials for them to be able to produce the quality of products we’re asking for?
The best products are produced when the creators are allowed the freedom to find, buy, acquire the best materials. Our system is robbing them of the freedom to get the best materials. And the products prove it.
Can we market education to our students without making them consumers only?
